Western Finnmark: Alta and the Øksfjord Peninsula

Alta, the Northern Lights City of Norway, has an impressive variety of nature, from the vast planes of Finnmarksvidda, to alpine peaks at the Western coastline.
In an hour drive from the biggest city in Finnmark, there are mountains and ski terrain for all levels.
Langfjorden is one of these ski areas, which frequently receives plenty of light, fluffy snow!

A bit further towards the coast, still within a day trip from Alta, you'll reach the idyllic Øksfjord. The surrounding mountains and valleys by the fjord, offer a wide range of ski touring options.

Nuvsvåg, also known as "Little Chamonix," located at the foot of Øksfjordjøkelen, surrounded by sharp mountain ridges. The long spring season, makes it possible to ski in the light of the midnight sun, just above the ocean!
You'll need to take a ferry to reach this idyllic fishing village, so it may be worth staying a few days, once you make the journey.
